Welcome to Auburn Sky Landscaping! Join the team as they transform a blank slate front yard into a beautiful pond oasis in the Garden State through a two-phase project.

Phase 1: Starting in the crisp days of October, before the ground froze, with the help of the teams machine they were able to excavate and grade back the front yard, turning a blank slate into a stunning 5 ft x 7 ft pond, approximately 20 inches deep. This new pond features a serene 3 ft streaming waterfall, accented with machine placed fieldstone boulder outcropping for a natural touch. They added natural stone steps, allowing close access to feed the fish and enjoy the pond's beauty up close. These steps also act as a natural retainment.

To ensure the pond remains clean, Auburn Sky installed a skimmer to help remove debris. This will also act as an overflow system if the pond gets too full from rain. With the help of an electrician, an outlet was installed, enabling the team to add pond lighting in the pond and also up in the waterfall. The soft glow at night creates a perfect ambiance for gatherings with friends and family. Finally completing Phase 1 by adding mulch and decorative stone, giving the pond and outcropping an extra wow factor. Now the clients have a relaxing area to party and hangout with friends and family with a beautiful focal point.

Phase 2: Returning in the warmer spring months, Phase 2 focused on enhancing the pond with beautiful perennial and succulent plants. Working together the team planted approximately 30 plants, including Creeping Jenny and Hens and Chicks, between the outcropping for a lovely accent. Other plants like Dianthus, Coreopsis, Catmint, Holly, and Phlox were added, providing vibrant colors, attracting butterflies, and offering delightful fragrances.

Another plant that was also introduced was an aquatic plant known as Water Hyacinth. This floating plant gives goldfish a hiding area and helps with water purification. Water Hyacinth blooms a gorgeous purple flower from late summer to early fall, adding to the pond's beauty. This planting phase truly brought the pond together, giving it a complete and cohesive look.

Pond Maintenance Tips: If you have a pond, keeping it clean and healthy is crucial. Consider installing a dosing system for beneficial bacteria to control algae growth. The right amount of algae is essential, but it should not take over your pond. Additionally, ensure you have the appropriate number of fish and keep debris out of the pond to maintain a healthy environment.
