An acclaimed film director, screenwriter and producer, Baz Luhrmann is best known for the Academy Award-winning Moulin Rouge!, his adaptation and modernisation of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, starring Leionardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes, and the epic romantic film, Australia, which is the second-highest grossing Australian film of all time. Luhrmann grew up in rural Australia, a locale that has influenced his filmmaking.
