In this episode, punk singer, songwriter, and guitarist, Laura Jane Grace, discusses the importance of truth in songwriting. She shares her love for acoustic guitar and recalls significant moments that influenced her journey.

Taking us back to her childhood, Laura tells the story of buying her first guitar at age 8 from money saved mowing lawns. Growing up not truly understanding herself or her feelings, she explains how songwriting became a coping mechanism for life, turning her experiences into lyrics.

“If there was an emergency, if my house were burning down or something, if there was one thing I would grab it would be an acoustic guitar because I would know that I can support myself. This is my livelihood, I can write a song on this and this is all I need.”– Laura Jane Grace.
