Welcome back to the Samson Innovation Center; I’m Ryan and today we’re going to look at our Shield Carry Contour +1 magazine extension for the M&P 9 Shield or Shield 2.0.

The M&P 9 Shield series of micro-compact pistols are a very popular pistol for concealed carry. They come new with two magazines: one holding 7 rounds, the other holding 8.

Adding the +1 Magazine Extension will not only increase your capacity but will also allow the user to have a better grip for improved control of the firearm. And the relief cuts aid in the event you have to clear a double feed.
The +1 Mag Extension on a factory 8-round magazine is compatible with our Shield Compact mag well.

The only tool you’ll need for installation is a punch or another similar tool. To disassemble the factory magazine, take the punch and push on the spring plate through the hole in the base plate. Now, slide the base plate forward, ensuring your thumb is in place to prevent the spring and spring plate from launching out of the magazine.

Take the Samson spring plate with this tab facing toward the front of the magazine, and the spring catching on the circular nub. Push the spring and spring plate into the magazine and slide the Samson mag extension onto the magazine.

When disassembling, make sure you push the Samson spring plate in far enough so it doesn’t catch on the mag extension.
