Changes have been made since President Donald J. Trump bought Doonbeg golf course and hotel in 2014. Dr. Martin Hawtree was brought in to renovate the course. Trump has used Hawtree in Scotland/Aberdeen in his course there. Doonbeg had the honor of having President Trump stay for two of the nights on his recent European visit for D-Day ceremonies, June 6, 2019 - 75 year anniversary.
