Pharmacists work in many areas of health care and can specialize their pharmacy practice, just like doctors. As the medication experts, pharmacists work in hospitals and clinics to treat patients with a risk of blood clots. Hear from Andrea Porter, Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice at the UW–Madison School of Pharmacy and an ambulatory care pharmacist with a clinical practice in the Anticoagulation Clinic at the William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital.

PharmD students at UW–Madison learn from leading practicing pharmacists, like Dr. Porter. She serves as the Director of Pharmacotherapy Laboratories, which is a key part of the clinical training curriculum. She explains how students have hands-on learning and begin working with patients even in their first year of pharmacy school.
