While I was home in Kansas City, I decided to pay the famous American Royal a visit with Natasha Fuller, the powerhouse behind Show Me Riders Horse Club.

Natasha educated me on Tom Bass, who was born into slavery in Missouri in 1859, and his rise to become one of the most celebrated equestrians of his time, as well as a pivotal figure in founding the American Royal. With an innate talent for horse training and riding, Bass developed methods that were both gentle and effective, earning him widespread respect and a clientele that included presidents and royalty.

After gaining all those insights and being inspired by the stories about horses and their riders, I decided it was time to saddle up myself. Honey, let me tell you, it was an adventure I'll never forget!
