Bayern Munich's badge between 1938 and 1945, featuring a rather conspicuous symbol, is frequently shared online and on social media, as if to suggest that the club has or had close ties to the ideology associated with Germany's darkest era.

But it isn't true. Well, the badge is, but not the sentiment.
