Must see floating cup technique with great big shmears.

This is a floating cup technique using housepaint as a base coat and the Amsterdam formula in between the layers of colour in the cup.

This was a technique used in my collaboration with the ever talented @SarahMackArt.

   • Dance of Paint.. floating cup techniq...

Lance Travis of @pouringwithLanceTravis
contacted me and asked about the techniques used in that painting and I suggested a collaboration..

This is a 16 by 20 oval canvas.. which I flooded with white housepainr.. I layered my colours in a small paper cup with a layer of the black Amsterdam formula between each layer.

I flip the cup and pierce the bottom with a wooden skewer. This releases the paint from the cup..

Tilting.. shmears and the great big shmears with the black Amsterdam formula.

The housepaint helps create a shadowy effect and Pearl like cells. The Amstersam formula creates great cells and lacing.

I hope you can join Lance and I Wednesday October 12th, starting at 7pm for live chat back to back premieres.
I will post a link as soon as the video is uploaded..

Thanks for coming along.. and for your kind comments. Let's keep playing with pigments and making beautiful things..
