Here is a glimpse into the competitive world of the Natural Selection Jackson Hole.

Unlike last year's bottomless powder fest at the Jackson Hole Natural Selection event, year two pushed us to the limits giving us 6 inches of powder on top of a crust layer. These conditions made the course fast and loose. Although the conditions weren't ideal, the snowboarding was nothing short of extraordinary. With 24 incredibly talented backcountry men and women snowboarders, every single one of them pushed the limits of what is capable in questionable conditions and was by far some of the most impressive live snowboarding I have ever witnessed. I was the last snowboarder to drop in qualifiers going head to head with Ben Ferguson in some of the most challenging snow conditions I've ever ridden, and Ben took the lead, advancing to the semifinals. Congrats to the winners and all the competitors for giving it your all and progressing the sport of snowboarding. A humongous thank you to Jackson Hole, the course builders, sponsors of the event, Travis Rice, and the whole NST crew for making this event happen.

After the event, I met up with my long-time friend and fellow boarder Alex Yoder to check out his new coffee company and cafe, "Overview," where he prioritizes environmental stewardship. We drank coffee, set up some of his Gentemstick snowboards, and enjoyed a day of carving. Enjoy :)
