The Chinese Navy has found a new home in Cambodia as it ramps up its military presence in South-East Asia. Recent satellite images of Cambodia’s Ream Naval Bay seem to confirm growing fears that China is expanding its military footprint beyond the disputed islands in the South China Sea. The presence of a Chinese ship and other Chinese facilities in the northern portion of Cambodia’s Ream Naval Base confirms Beijing’s strategy to rule the waters of the Indo-Pacific. Already, China has a presence or a potential base in Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Tanzania and Myanmar.
