If there is no hell, what are the consequences of evil actions, especially in the afterlife? This is a question I am often asked, and to be honest, it amazes me how the dualistic heaven/hell model of the afterlife has become so popular and mainstream in the collective consciousness that, for so many, the idea or possibility of any other afterlife scenario is unfathomable. Is the mainstream Western notion of the afterlife (eternal heaven or hell) the only reasonable post-mortem system of justice? A system consisting of eternal reward or eternal (inescapable) damnation for the account of one’s temporary, finite lifetime on earth?

While one side of the reward/punishment model may seem wonderful (eternal heaven), what about the flip side of this deal, the side of eternal hell? Eternal punishment (conscious inescapable torment) for “sins” committed in a 70-80 year lifespan? When examined extensively and honestly, this model of the afterlife and the consequences of wrongdoing should lead us to ask ourselves what really justice is, fundamentally. Is eternal, inescapable conscious torment a just consequence for sins committed in a finite amount of time? Is eternal, inescapable conscious torment a just consequence for not believing in the “correct” religion? Furthermore, if this system of reward/punishment is ultimate reality and created by God, what does this say about God? Can God be considered “just” if the afterlife system God set in place is fundamentally unjust?

In this video, I explore and explain why the mainstream heaven/hell system of afterlife “justice” is problematic, and I discuss an alternative approach to how one faces the consequences of their actions in the afterlife if they never face them here in this life. I also explain how the universe has a built-in system of justice that was set in place by intelligent design with the sole purpose of restoration, healing, balance, and development rather than retributive punishment—punishment for the sake of punishing (eternal damnation). The only way we can begin to understand how this universal law of justice really operates is if we are able to let go of and transcend the punitive heaven/hell model of the afterlife and expand our consciousness to a much bigger and better perception of reality—one that goes beyond one lifetime and one incarnation.
