Replacing the coilpak at 71k miles on a 2013 Chevy Cruze cured the misfire.

On my vehicle, which had a new set of sparkplugs installed about 10k miles ago, the misfire was caused by an aging coilpak with oxidized plug contacts.

I could have replaced the 4 plug boots and contact springs for about $10 each but at 71k miles it was time to do the whole coilpak. At about $80 for a an AC Delco(Delphi) factory replacement, it was the best choice.

You need some basic tools as well as a T30 star driver or bit.

If you do this, and your plugs are over 50k, I would suggest getting a set of 4 AC Delco Iridium spark plugs. They come pre-gapped at the factory spec of .028 and take a standard 3/8" spark plug deep socket to replace. Again, well worth an extra 15 min to replace and then you know your spark path is free from issues.

I am not a professional auto mechanic. But I have worked on my own cars since the late 70s. This is not a tough job to do if you have the tools and take the time to do it right. It's also very satisfying to work on your own car and see an immediate improvement.

The Cruze runs smooth now and is back to being it's peppy little self.

Thanks for reading and watching!
