The Rigid Gen5X tools are very impressive, but stack on the new brushless tool line-up in Ridgid's Gen5X family and you have some very impressive, long lasting tools that can handle a beating. We really like to work at torture testing tools and there have not been any Ridgid tools that we have been easy on. The Ridgid impact wrench was drove over multiple times with our Jeep. The Ridgid Jobsite radio was thrown down stairs, dropped from an excavator, beat to crap and finally the cage was tested under a 30 ton loader. While the radio did not survive all of our testing, the new Ridgid brushless line has been holding up well. The brushless Drill & Impact Driver were pushed, punished and tested to see if we could make the tool cut out in mercy.

The new Ridgid 18v brushless 7-1/4" circular saw was treated no different. Right out of the box we pushed the saw by cutting 1-3/4" OSB over and over. Most saws of this size come with a 24 tooth carbide tipped saw blade. We pushed the saw with that blade for a while, and to be fair, we replaced it with a 40 tooth carbide tipped blade to compare it to other saw we have tested. That new saw blade made a big difference in the cut quality and also the load on the saw during the deep cuts. On most saws, upgrading the blade is something we do right off the bat because we want longer battery life and a better cut.
