Haruyuki Arita is an obese, tormented middle school student who escapes through internet gaming.

However, his life takes a dramatic turn one day when he discovers that Kuroyukihime, the popular vice president of the student council, has surpassed all of his previous high marks.

She then invites him to the student lounge and introduces him to "Brain Burst," a technology that enables users to accelerate their brain waves to a point where time appears to stand still.

Brain Burst also works as an augmented reality fighting game, and users must win duels against other players in order to earn additional points for acceleration.

However, if a person forfeits all points, they will permanently lose access to Brain Burst.
