Omah-omah is a showcase of the craftsmanship in Jagalan in Kotagede, the "Silver City" in Indonesia. The design of this handmade couple rings is based on a true love story in this community.
"Omah" in Javanese means "shelter", the protection for the other half. In Java, woven bamboo is commonly used as construction materials. The interwoven bamboo symbolizes how lives are strengthen when one life overlap with another.
Putting two "omah"s together gives the term "Omah-omah". In Javanese it is the philosophy of the mutual understanding between two, which is the foundation of a love relationship. The distinctive Javanese pattern on omah-omah represents the wishes for a harmonious relationship between two converging lives.
