Released as a single in May 1971, this week's “Remake of a Classic” was the last top 10 hit for The Grass Roots; making it to number 9 on the US Billboard Hot 100. As with most of their hits, none of the band actually played on the record (the exception being Dennis Provisor on organ); instead, members of L.A.'s famous Wrecking Crew handled the instrumentation. Written by Dunhill (later ABC) Records' staff members Mitchell Bottler, Edward McNamara, Adeniya Paris, Ekundayo Paris, and Gary Zekley, and produced by Steve Barri, the only contribution to the song by any member of The Grass Roots was Rob Grill and Provisor's lead vocals.

Deciphering the different parts of this song was challenging. The original recording has a tendency to get muddy at times, especially when it comes to the brass section. In the end I gave it my best shot; improvising here and there. I fully expect some sort of award for my incredible one finger left hand keyboard technique (I'm not a piano player..which is obvious).
