Interesting product offering from the 1990's ear of Lionel Scale "O" trains. Two powered trucks, Pullmores and a lot of electronics on board. While Williams focused on solid simple and reliable "conventional" trains; Lionel went into sophisticated control concepts, sounds and basically cyber add - on bling to attract customers. AND like it or not, Lionel won. Williams is on life support at Bachmann, As is MTH, and K-Line got absorbed and killed by Lionel. This locomotive was in the early years of more digital designs and ambitions by Lionel. AND with the additional cost of those capabilities, price pressures were felt else where. In this case there is a lot of plastic in the drive line where MTH and Williams had by this point evolved into those can motors over die cast with metal gear trucks we see on virtually ALL modern "quality" locomotives including Lionel. AND Lionel has taken over the model train world for O scale/gauge yet again.
