This talk by Richard Hunt focusses on the practicalities of setting up, piloting and running an elective course for students in Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, which combines coding in python and mathematics to explore real world problems beyond the usual secondary curriculum. The elective course is not the ‘finished article’ and strategies for giving students more choice and embracing Papert’s concept of ‘low floors, high ceilings’ while making the workload sustainable are being considered. It has been an interesting journey to get to this point and we have been surprised by how many students have picked this elective. For more infomation search CTM at https://atm.org.uk/Caleb-Gattegno
