During the 2004 season, Avondale beat Pontiac Central 39-0 in week #1. Pontiac Central would go on to lose another seven games, finishing 1-8. The 2005 matchup allowed Pontiac Central to avenge their embarrassing 2004 loss and the first game for Pontiac Central's new head coach, Adrian Edwards. The Chiefs pulled off the major upset, beating Avondale 38-27.
