In this Run to You guitar lesson video, I will show you how to play this 80's classic by Bryan Adams note-for-note.
We will be using standard tuning with a capo at the 2nd fret. On some older live videos, you can see Bryan Adams playing with the guitar tuned up a whole step so he didn't have to use a capo. However, in more recent performances, he plays a standard tuned guitar with a capo at the 2nd fret, so we will do the same in this lesson.
"Run To You" opens with an arpeggiated guitar riff and a short guitar fill. Try to make this riff kinda punchy with slight palm muting to help the notes pop-out.
The pre-chorus contains a couple of major bar chords that build the tension leading into the chorus. The chorus uses only basic open position chords and is probably the easiest part of the song to play.
During the second verse there are a few more guitar fills which I will demonstrate.
We then make it to the guitar solo section. This solo is based off a repeated lick played across a few simple major triad shapes. The cool thing is, that a harmony guitar part (played by Bryan Adams live) joins the first guitar part when it is being repeated. I will demonstrate both guitar parts just in case you have another guitar player you can jam with.
Have fun with this one! #runtoyouguitarlesson #bryanadams #guitarcovers
