This is a story of a people who truly suffered for the Faith. The Japanese Catholics were persecuted, hunted, and underground for more than 250 years. How did the Catholics -- especially of Nagasaki -- maintain the Catholic Faith with NO priests, NO bishops, NO churches?

After the mission (founded by St. Francis Xavier) was destroyed, when Father Petitjean finally returned to Nagasaki more than 9 generations later, he was stunned to find a vibrant, underground Catholic community. The Japanese Catholics only had one simple question of the French Priest -- where is the statue of Our Lady, Mother Mary? If you brought her, we know you've brought us the true Faith. If you did not bring her, we know you are an impostor. In other words, No Mary, No Church.
