Short and Sweet video on how to make your own light brown sugar at home. Just two ingredients, white granulated sugar, and blackstrap molasses. Make as needed for your baking needs light or dark brown sugar. Mixing by hand normally takes 5-10 minutes. An electric mixer or stand mixer can be used to make the brown sugar a little more quickly.

Make sure to store the sugar in an airtight container which may be kept for up to six months. Normally you can purchase the larger bags of granulated sugar and save some money and you will definitely save by making your own brown sugar and just make what you need to have it fresh at all times for cookies or add to hams and baked beans.

Light Brown Sugar:
2 teaspoons blackstrap molasses
2 cups white granulated sugar

Dark Brown Sugar:
4 teaspoons blackstrap molasses
2 cups white granulated sugar

Mix in a large bowl and mix and smash molasses with a spatula, normally 5-10 minutes. An electric mixer or stand mixer can be used.
Store in an airtight container.
