"我、闇とて･･･ - Ware, yami tote..." - "For I am darkness..."

This live version can be found on disc 2 of the "UROBOROS - with the proof in the name of living" DVD.

Replacing another ancient translation from 2011 with a new one which, hopefully, will do the beautiful, heart-wrenching original at least a little justice...

Notes:
1) 0:03 - "限られた時間 - kagirareta jikan", literally "limited times", sometimes translated as "numbered days" or "little time".

2) 0:03 / 0:21 - "狭間で - hazama de" usually means that something or someone is "in between two things" - with a strong nuance of it/them "being stuck" there. I translated the nuance, which was silent in Japanese, so it wouldn't get lost entirely.

3) 0:03 - "染まり - somari" - "to be dyed / to be tainted". In this case it means that the wind has "taken hold of" him, not literally "dyed/tainted" him. Being dyed with the colors of something is a metaphorical way of saying that something has a very strong effect on you. As in "狂気に染まり - kyouki ni somari", literally "dyed / tainted with madness", figuratively "taken over by madness". Or "憎悪に染まり - zouo ni somari", literally "dyed/tainted with hate", figuratively "lost in hate" or "overcome with hate".

4) 0:43 - "息を断つ - iki wo tatsu" - "server/cut off my breath".
"断つ - tatsu" also means "to take one's life" and is used in the phrase "命を断つ - inochi wo tatsu" which means "to cut oneself from life" or just "to take one's life". So, instead of saying "to kill myself would be easy", Kyo chose to word this a little more subtle: "to take my (own) breath would be easy".

5) 3:52 - "声に変えて - koe ni kaete", literally "turn/change (them) into voice". I would have preferred to keep the "change"-theme going, but this is not how you would word it in English, it only sounds off and misleading. "Give them a voice" is far more natural, though, unfortunately, it creates a break in continuity...

6) 4:49 - The fact that "噛み締める - kamishimeru"'s double meaning of "chewing something thoroughly" and "reflecting upon something" is the exact same in English (and German!) is kind of baffling to me. I've been meaning to translate this as "think this over" before realizing that "chew this over" was totally an option, too. Sometimes a translator does get lucky, I suppose.

7) 4:49 - "流れる証 - nagareru akashi" - "flowing proof". Kyo often mentions this concept in his lyrics - that blood is the proof that we are alive. Or rather, as long as blood flows, it means that we are alive. So the "flowing proof" is nothing but that very blood. Or as Kyo says "the proof called living".
While I'm at it: 5:28 - I translated "生きるという名の証を - ikiteru toiu na no akashi wo" the way I saw fit, although the official translation's "With the proof in the name of living" was later used to name a tour and a DVD. In fact, the very DVD this live footage is from.
