Associate Professor Yii-Jan Lin from Yale Divinity School shared an insightful lecture on “Apocalyptic Exclusion: The Book of Revelation and US Narratives of Chinese Immigration”.

Assoc Prof Lin examined the America-as-New Jerusalem metaphor and its role in anti-Chinese movements and policies. This included examples of specific exclusionary language in political cartoons, quotes from United States congress officials and stories of Chinese immigrants. The talk was moderated by Associate Professor of Humanities (Literature) Andrew Hui.
