Mastanibai Tomb:

This Samadhi / memorial of Mastanibai is open for visiting. Also, it's very close to Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad.

Mastanibai was the daughter of 'Maharaja Chhatrasal and Rani Ruhani Bai' of Bundelkhand.

She came to Pune after marrying the elder Bajirao Peshwa and after Bajirao's death She left this world in 1740. They had a son named 'Samsher Bahadur'.

She was proficient in dance, singing, sword and archery. At the same time, she was fascinated by the literature of saints like Saint Kabir, Saint Mirabai, Mastana, Keshavdas, Tulsidas. She also studied Urdu literature and the Quran.


Pabal Gaon, the tomb of Mastani, is near Pune. Samadhi is taken care of by Mastani's descendant 'Mohammad Inamdar'.

After the death of Bajirao Peshwa in 1740, Mastani died due to sudden shock of his death. She was buried at Pabal. The tombs were excavated by unknown thieves in 1997-1998 and then in January 2009 with the intention of finding diamonds and some jewelery. The thieves did this by digging a grave about 6 feet deep. They did not find anything, but the tomb was destroyed.

After this, the Archaeological Department made minor repairs and rebuilt the tomb. The government had passed a resolution to protect the Mastani monument as it is a historical monument. The decision was announced in the Gazette.
Accordingly, it was decided that Mastani's tomb at Pabal would remain a protected monument and would be maintained by the Archaeological Department; But it has not been implemented yet.

The place where Mastani lived was leveled and the last tower of the eight-fortified palace was leveled in 2001. The Mastani Foundation in Manas has taken up the task of setting up a 'Mastani Garden' at this place.


मस्तानी समाधी पाबळ, पुणे:

मस्तानीबाईंचे ही समाधी /स्मारक भेट देण्यासाठी खुले आहे. तसेच, पुणे व पिंपरी चिंचवड पासून अगदी जवळ आहे.

मस्तानीबाई ह्या बुंदेलखंडाचे 'महाराजा छत्रसाल व राणी रूहानी बाई' यांच्या कन्या होत्या.

ती थोरले बाजीराव पेशवे यांच्याशी लग्न करून पुण्यात आली आणि बाजीरावांच्या मृत्यूनंतर त्या धक्क्याने इ.स. १७४० साली हे जग सोडून गेली. त्यांना 'समशेर बहादुर' नावाचा मुलगा होता.

ती नृत्य, गायन, तलवार, तिरंदाजी यात प्रवीण होती. त्याचबरोबर संत कबीर, संत मीराबाई, मस्ताना, केशवदास, तुलसीदास या संतांचे साहित्य तिला मुखोद्गत होते. उर्दू साहित्याचा, कुराणाचाही तिने अभ्यास केला होता.


मस्तानीचे समाधिस्‍थळ असलेले 'पाबळ गाव' हे पुण्याजवळ आहे. समाधीची काळजी मस्तानीचे वंशज 'मोहम्मद इनामदार' ह्यांच्याकडून घेतली जाते.

१७४०मध्ये बाजीराव पेशवे यांच्या मृत्यूनंतर मस्तानीचा मृत्यू झाला. तिला पाबळ येथे दफन करण्यात आले. हिरा व काही दागदागिने मिळतील या हेतूने १९९७-१९९८ व त्यानंतर जानेवारी २००९मध्ये अज्ञात चोरट्यांनी कबरीचे खोदकाम केले. साधारण ६ फूट खोल कबर खोदून चोरट्यांनी हा प्रकार केला. त्यांच्या हाती काही लागले नाही, पण कबरीची मोडतोड झाली.

यानंतर पुरातत्त्व खात्याने किरकोळ डागडुजी करून कबर पुन्हा उभी केली खरी, पण मोडकळीस आलेल्या भिंती, परिसरात उगवलेले गवत यामुळे कबरीची सारी लयाच गेली आहे. मस्तानीचे स्मारक हा ऐतिहासिक ठेवा असल्याने ही वास्तू संरक्षित करण्याबाबत शासनाने एक ठराव केला होता. राजपत्रात हा निर्णय जाहीर करण्यात आला होता. त्यानुसार पाबळ येथील मस्तानीची कबर संरक्षित स्मारक राहील व त्याची देखभाल पुरातत्त्व विभाग करेल, असा निर्णय झाला; पण अद्यापची त्याची अंमलबजावणी झालेली नाही. मस्तानी राहत असलेली जागा भुईसपाट झाली असून, आठ गढी असलेल्या महालाचा शेवटचा बुरूज २००१ मध्ये सपाट झाला. या ठिकाणी 'मस्तानी गार्डन' उभारण्याचा मानस येथील मस्तानी फाउंडेशनने हाती घेतला आहे.
