Making a wooden spoon, a brief history lesson. #woodworking #how to #diy this video shows you how I make a wooden spoon. I have a wooden spoon that I started several months ago. at the time I made several so I didn't need to finish this one. Now I'll take the time and finish this one but not only finish the spoon. I will dive into the history of The wooden spoon just a bit. I start out on the band saw in order to trim a little closer to the line. Once I do the trimming to get closer to the line I take the spoon over to the belt sander. This belt sander is in the vise. I set this up a long time ago this way and I think it's the best way to use these old belt Sanders unless you're using them for sanding a large surface area. Once I have the profile of the spoon the way that I want it, I'll finish up with hand sanding. Now it's time to oil The wooden spoon I use a butcher's block cutting board oil which is basically a mineral oil in a food safe oil. The last step is to use a conditioner on The wooden spoon. I think it came out very nice I can't go wrong with Walnut the additional tones of the sapwood. thanks for watching the video making a wooden spoon, a brief history lesson. #woodworking #how to #diy. please subscribe and hit the like button.
