Beyond personal and public welfare, as Bodo people mainly rely on agriculture, the Kherai puja holds special significance in ensuring a bountiful crop harvest, they perform Kherai puja before and after cultivation, seeking the blessings of various gods and goddesses to ensure a successful cultivation season and successful crop yield. Despite its elaborate and costly nature, the Bodo community continues to observe their biggest religious festival, "Kherai Puja," faithfully, even in the face of economic challenges.
