I don't know if I ever remember a time when my parents' problems weren't my own.

They're obviously not mine to keep, but it's always felt like they are.

I'm the only daughter and the eldest - naturally, I became the third parent in a party meant for two.

Though not intentional, it happened. And it happens to most women.

And I've never been able to successfully remove myself from their sh*t without extreme measures like moving out of state or other forms of isolation.

I don't want to cut my parents out of my life - I've tried that in my own way and it makes me sad to be disconnected from them.

So what other options are there?
How do we set boundaries but not to the point of ridding yourself of connection completely?
