Relations between India and Canada have hit a new low after both countries expelled top diplomats yesterday over last year’s assassination of a Khalistani hardliner in Canada. The Trudeau government has publicly accused India of engaging in the murder of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, a Canadian citizen. Bilateral ties virtually collapsed on October 14 after India issued a strongly-worded statement criticising Canada’s decision to name the Indian High Commissioner as ‘person of interest’ in the case.
