From a 1997 French documentary on Bataille; a dramatization from his 'Madame Edwarda' (1937), where the sacred and the profane merge with Edwarda, the prostitute, claiming that "I'm God" ("je suis Dieu")...

The last part shows photos of a 1905 Mongolian torture victim, Fou-tchou-li who was subjected to "língchí ,"—slow-slicing—for killing his master, the prince of Inner Mongolia, Aohan Banner... Bataille includes this in his last major work, 'Tears of Eros', remarking: "What I suddenly saw and what imprisoned me in anguish—but at the same time which liberated me from it—was the identity of these perfect contraries, divine ecstasy and its opposite, extreme horror."
