Come spend time learning about herbs with practitioner, scholar, herb farmer and herbalist extraordinaire JulieAnn Nugent-Head. Under her instruction, participants will work directly with plants from her pharmacy and farm, looking, touching, smelling, brewing, tasting and discussing over 100 Chinese medicinal herbs. Through engaging discussions with the plants in hand, JulieAnn will highlight classical Chinese concepts such as flavor and nature, yin and yang qualities and inherent potency to understand the classical application of single herbs and their combination in formulas in the clinic. JulieAnn will also highlight herbs with similar functions, comparing and contrasting the plants and their flavors so that participants understand how to make the best choice when writing their own formulas.
