The Thames is a river in southern England, which flows into the North Sea.

With a total length of 346 km, it is the longest river whose course is entirely in England (it both begins and ends in England) and the second longest in the UK (after the Severn). The Thames rises at Thames Head in Gloucestershire, flows eastwards towards Oxford and Reading, then through London, for which it is famous, and finally into the North Sea via its estuary.
