The case against Daw Aung San Su Kyi, Daw Khin Khin Win, Ma Win Ma Ma and American citizen Mr. John William Yettaw continued at the court of Yangon North District. Criminal Case No. 47/2009 filed by Yangon North District Court under Section 22 and Section 109 of the 1975 Law to Safeguard the State Against the Dangers of Those Desiring to Cause Subversive Acts continued for the third day, on 20th May. The court hearing started at 10 am and recessed in the afternoon at 12:15pm.

The Protocol Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs submitted permission to 29 Diplomats of Foreign Embassies in Myanmar and the News and Periodicals Enterprise of the Ministry of Information to 5 members of Myanmar Foreign Correspondents Club and 5 local journalists to observe the court hearing to the Criminal Case Numbers 47/2009, 48/2009 and 49/2009 to the Yangon North District Court. According to the Criminal Code Section 352 and Court Handbook Para 48(1), the court granted with the restrictions not to bring harmful weapons, no trans-passing to other places except to the designated places, no interview, no recording nor photo and video footage. The afternoon court hearing continued at 1:15pm. With the permission, the Ambassadors, the Charge' d' Affaires ad interim and diplomats from the embassies in Yangon of Australia, Bangladesh, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, the People's Republic of China, Egypt, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Israel, Italy, Japan, North Korea Democratic People's Republic, the People's Republic of Korea, Laos, Malaysia, Nepal, Pakistan, the Philippines, the Russian Federation, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Singapore, Thailand, Britain, the United States of America, and Vietnam as well as the resident representative of UNDP totaling 29, 5 correspondents and 5 local journalists observed the examination to prosecution witness Police captain Tin Zaw Tun of Bahan Township Police Force.


Next, the diplomats of Singapore, Russian Federation and Thailand met Daw Aung San Su Kyi at the Officer Mess of the Prison Department from 2:15 to 2:40pm. During the meeting, Daw Aung San Su Kyi told the diplomats that she was in good health and convenient accommodation was provided. Concerning Mr. John William Yettaw's intrusion to her house, she helped him based on the humanitarian ground, and Mr. John William Yettaw will be taken action according to the law.


Daw Aung San Su Kyi was kept at the Officer Mess of the Prison Department. Prison's Department Medical Superintendent and doctors are assigned to closely attend to her daily medical needs. In the morning of 20th May, two physicians and one heart specialist for Yangon General Hospital together with the doctors of Prison Department provided health care. Concerning the secret entry of Mr. John William Yettaw to Daw Aung San Su Kyi's house from 3rd to 5th May, the court hearing to four persons including Daw Aung San Su Kyi will continue.
