Melbourne is the city of bluestone. From foot paths and kerbs to its historical buildings too many to count- this natural stone is seen everywhere.

Bluestone is also an extremely common material used locally in residential and commercial architecture- and it's popularity has penetrated many interstate and global markets.

With this growth in popularity, we have seen the rise of bluestone from China being used in Australia. It's cheaper price and similar look to local Victorian bluestone was very attractive early on. However, many of these cheap Chinese bluestone products performed poorly, thus damaging the reputation of all Chinese bluestone.

SAI Stone, a local importer of Chinese/Vietnamese bluestone, has been changing that and have managed to create an extremely reputable brand and gain a very strong footing in the local Bluestone market. In fact, they are one of five Melbourne City Council approved suppliers for bluestone in the CBD. They want to show that not all Chinese bluestone is the same, and that their product, Blue Ocean Bluestone, is very much a worthy alternative to local Victorian Bluestone.

In this video, we learn about Bluestone, and have a look a couple of SAI Stone's projects. This Friday, I will be dropping a video of a longer discussion I had with Bob about the story of SAI and where they are headed going into the future. Stay tuned 😎.

I have no business affiliation with SAI. I am a customer and friend.
