Din Tai Fung has a strong case for being the most famous Chinese restaurant in the world. Or perhaps I should refer to it as a Taiwanese restaurant as it is from Taiwan, but it serves a variety of Chinese cuisines, from Shanghainese staples like its famous Din Tai Fung xiao long bao, as well as sheng jian bao (pan fried soup dumplings). It also serves many Taiwanese foods as well, such as Taiwanese beef noodle soup and taro buns. In fact the Din Tai Fung beef noodle soup is legendary! As is the Din Tai Fung pork chop fried rice, also a Taiwanese staple. Unfortunately, we only have so much stomach space and if we order too much food it will all get cold anyways, so we will have to save some dishes for next time!

Even though it's only a month old, Din Tai Fung's reputation precedes it right now. The original Din Tai Fung Taipei location has a Michelin star, as does the Hong Kong location. The NYC location has been crazily hyped up. They are currently reservation-only and getting a reservation was nearly impossible. It took significant refreshing and checking back to score a reservation. It took me three weeks, but was it worth the wait? Is Din Tai Fung really the best Chinese restaurant in the world? Are Din Tai Fung soup dumplings the best in the world? Or is it all overrated hype? We will find out together!
