Whilst I can't profess to being a big Cold Chisel fan, I grew up listening to them and observing that they were among if not the best live band in Australia in the 1970's and 80's. 'Saturday Night' is a chilled track in the main, with an interesting ambient intro, then Ian Moss' lead vocal followed by Jimmy Barnes unmistakable growl. Mostly Cold Chisel were an 'album' artist with a string of long players achieving Gold and Platinum status, but they did score a couple of Top 10 hits and 'Saturday Night' very nearly made it three, but it stalled at #11 where it remained for a pair of weeks after its April debut in 1984. So the track is 40 years old!

'Saturday Night' showcases everything great about this excellent pub band who became national heroes. The songwriting, the vocals, the arrangement and the bluesy, rocky, soulful feel to their music.
