This run makes use of a glitch that was discovered in late April. However, it hasn't been shared publicly. It involves respawning at the beginning of a race while not moving. When you respawn, you briefly are in the air. By staying in the air, then being careful not to touch proper road pieces, you can unload the barriers in later parts in the level. This is referred to as barrier delete. By combining barrier delete with checkpoint glitch I was able to teleport from the second checkpoint to the third, saving around 5 seconds.

I respected the glitch finder's wishes that this glitch wouldn't be shared publicly as it would cause issues with ranked and many speed run tracks' leaderboards. Given how checkpoint glitch ruined tracks like the Bone Caverns and Puddle Jumper, myself along with the others that know about this glitch didn't want that to happen again. It was apparently shared with the dev team privately so that it would be fixed without much issue spread publicly.

We now sit three weeks away from the start of Season 2 and this glitch still isn't patched. While it is no longer useful on this specific track as checkpoint glitch has been patched, barrier delete still exists and many other tracks are affected (Outpost, Tilted Turnpike, and the Curvy Canyons just to name a few). There is enough people doing this that even when kept private, the leaderboards will continue to be broken and unusable.

It is also worth mentioning that from my testing, this glitch is no longer possible in 3 lap. This won't be an issue in ranked. It also is no longer possible on your first attempt in a speed run, but will work for every attempt after. It appears that they attempted to patch this out but only somewhat succeeded.

Since it doesn't appear that this is changing any time soon and a repeat of what happened at the beginning of season 1's checkpoint glitch fiasco is possible, I figured the best course of action was to make this public in hopes of bringing it attention and having it being patched before season 2 starts when the inevitable leaderboard reset happens. If this bug is still in the game when the new season drops, the same tracks will have ruined leaderboards that could have been avoided and thus make the leaderboard reset redundant.

The other reason for me wanting to post this is that despite the massive time save from both this and the shortcut at the end of the level, I actually believe this run is beatable on the current patch without glitches. The speed fix patch as well as the community's understanding of tech and speed in this game has increased drastically in the past few weeks. The current Riviera No Glitch record sits at a 1:07, just barely out of reach from this time. Hopefully this may motivate someone to try and beat this run before the end of the
season.

P.S - The last shortcut still works ;)
