CNC milling technique that works on 3 axis, 4 axis, AND 5 axis machines. We're using a machining strategy that removes outer areas of stock material, leaving the part "framed" in the center, called "window machining."
In this video, we're machining a decal squeegee that doesn't have geometry to easily hold. Although we're 5-axis machining this part, this technique still applies to CNC milling machines of any axis. Once the stock has been machined, hot glue will hold the part in place while the remaining tabs are removed. Although it doesn't lend itself to automation or lights out production, it's still a great tool to have in your back pocket, especially for parts that are tricky to hold.
