In this presentation of the Montessori Tens Board, the student is introduced to the connection between the concrete quantities (the golden beads) and the symbolic representation of the quantities (the numbers) between ten and one hundred. The concise language and repetitive nature of the presentation allows children to predict the lesson as it unfolds. The whole view of the quantities and numbers, from ten to one hundred at the end of the lesson, allows the child to make connections visually to the pattern of the growing quantities of the base ten system of numbers.
