Kathak is one of the eight forms of Indian classical dances.
It is the only dance form that comes from the northern part of India.
The name Kathak is derived from the Sanskrit word 'katha', meaning story.


Tatkaar is footwork i.e producing sound from the feet as well as from the ghungharoos (bells).

It is of three types.

1. Ekgun -1beat,1bol (बोल)

2. Dugun - 1beat,2 bol (बोल)

3. Chaugun -1beat, 3 bol (बोल)
