Aquarium Silver Arowana tank setup starts with getting as large of a tank as you can. Silver Arowana fish can grow over 36” in length. The aquarium size is going to be one of the biggest factors when keeping these fish.

What closely follows aquarium size is going to be aquarium filter size. You’re going to need a massive amount of filtration on the aquarium. And going along with that you’re going to have to get used to doing a lot of water changes on the fish aquarium. On average you could figure of removing 50% of the water in your aquarium within the month span. But that’s all going to depend on what type of filtration you have and how powerful it is.

Keeping the Silver Arowana fish with other tank mates is also a tricky task. The general rule of thumb when keeping other fish with them is that it should not fit in its mouth. Don’t forget that the size of the mouth expands when it opens. So we’re talking about a fish about the size of 7 inches or more to not fit in their mouth.

When keeping Arrowana fish you also have to have a very tight fitting lid on your aquarium. These fish are known to be escape artists and will easily jump through the smallest of areas at the top of your aquarium. I would highly advise investing in a high-quality lid and put something heavy on top of it. It’s not uncommon to see Fishkeepers put bricks on top of their aquarium cover.

If you can fulfill all of those demands then you could properly care for this fish. The main difference is that these are considered monster fish. In the hobby that means that they grow very large and this means you need a large aquarium. It’s a next level fish keeping compared to smaller nano aquariums.
