Mexico Turned Into an Ocean! Hurricane Helene Destroys Cancun, Move To Florida

The United States National Hurricane Center (NHC) announced that this morning, Tropical Storm Helene intensified into a Category 1 Hurricane off the coast of Quintana Roo. For its part, the National Meteorological Service (SMN) announced that the center of the cyclone is located very close to the Mexican coast, 70 kilometers northeast of Cancun , and 135 km north-northeast of Cozumel, Quintana Roo. Winds with gusts of 90 to 110 km/h and waves of 3 to 5 meters high are expected , as well as the possible formation of waterspouts on the coasts of Quintana Roo and Yucatan, as well as wind gusts of 40 to 60 km/h on the coasts of Campeche. Helene was expected to strengthen into a hurricane on Wednesday, and it could become a major hurricane before it arrives on Florida’s Gulf Coast as soon as late Thursday. The storm was 145 miles (235 kilometers) south of the western tip of Cuba, had sustained winds of 60 mph (95 kph) and was moving northwest at 12 mph (19 kph).
