There are a number of devices whose resistance is highly dependent on some external environmental factor, including temperature, light level, and applied force. We discuss a few examples and how devices such as thermistors, light dependent resistors (LDRs), and force sensing resistors (FSRs), can be used with simple DC circuitry.
