We are 8 days into a heatwave with no rain and no rain even before the heatwave hit. My lawn has thatch, and I am concerned that having the high temperatures with no rain and me watering the lawn every day to keep up the lawn in the heat I am going to have problems with disease. so, I picked one of the hottest days of this heat wave to do a dethatching. Temps were predicted to be 97 and a heat index of 105. having a KBG lawn along with high summer temps and having to water just about every day is a recipe for disease to happen. Having that thatch layer in the lawn will only make things worse. I don't like to put chemicals on the lawn that may be needed if disease occurs so in my opinion my best option was to dethatch and there was a lot more than I thought. I will do a follow up video a week after the dethatching to show that even though temps were extremely hot dethatching the lawn did not hurt it in anyway.
