Back in January of 2020, I spent nearly two weeks exploring the state of Kerala, India. Itā€™s also known as Godā€™s Own Country, as well as the Land of Coconuts. I started my road trip through the state in its capital, Thiruvananthapuram, also known as Trivandrum.

There, I linked up with my friend Vishnu, who graciously took 72 hours out of his schedule to show me all around his city, including his favorite food spots and some of the top attractions in and around the city.

Sites like Sri Padmanabhaswamy Temple, Attukal Bhagavathy Temple, and Chalai Bazaar are great places to get a real feel for the local culture and everyday life. You also canā€™t miss Kovalam Beach, Napier Gardens, and the colossal bird statue at Jatayu Earthā€™s Center in nearby Chadayamangalam.

But, as expected, it was the food in Trivandrum that truly blew me away. From the beef curry and fresh porottas at Good Morning Hotel to the pazham pori and pothu curry at Edaneram Restaurant, I was in Southern Indian food bliss! And no trip to Trivandrum is complete without having a traditional sadhya feast at Motherā€™s Veg Plaza.

But, as much as Iā€™d love to tell you all about why Trivandrum is an incredible travel destination, let me just show you in this documentary detailing my 48 hours in the city!
