Loooong video that examines the torque of the silentstepsticks in both stealthChop and spreadCycle modes at 12 volts and 24 volts, with and without software interpolation, and at various micro stepping resolutions. You can skip to 15:50 for the test results and graphs if that is what you came for.

Standard RAMPS board was used, with an Ardiono MEGA clone, as well as Marlin 3d printer firmware version 1.1.8 bugfix. GCode commands were issues over USB through Pronterface for Mac.

I will be posting more test like this in the future with Trinamic’s other sticks, as well as the Allegro a4988 and TI drv8825. Let me know in the comments if you want me to hit on other areas related to this when I record those vids.

Here is the time index so you can skip around to your favorite bits and not have to watch me ramble on for any longer than you have to ;p

1:54 Why choose the tmc2208
5:18 how to set up the TMC2208
7:13 test rig setup
11:38 test results philosophy
13:18 test operating conditions
15:53 12v stealthChop vs spreadCycle /w interpolation
18:52 24v stealthChop vs spreadCycle /w interpolation
20:32 24v stealthChop vs spreadCycle NO interpolation
21:17 12v VS 24v stealthChop vs spreadCycle /w interpolation
23:04 effect of stepper current on stealthCop torque
24:58 mega chart of all settings and voltages
27:40 temperature readings (no video, just talking, sorry)
