For film lovers, the '70s seemed like the glory days, but they weren't to last. Although several new theatres were built in that decade, many others were destined to close as we got into the '80s. And it may not be too much of a stretch to note that the progressive decline in Winnipeg's core ran in parallel with the gradual disappearance of the movie theatres and the thousands of people who once travelled downtown to catch a show.
