Today we will look through the oldest photographs of Atlantic City, New Jersey. While the history here is so fascinating, many aspects of the current narrative leave us desiring more information. The earliest photographs will be our fuel for discovery, and we see Atlantic City was occupied in pre-colonial times.

From its roots as a Lenape Summer Retreat, to the founding of the earliest stone masonry structures of Atlantic City in 1783, through the arrival of the first railroad to the area in 1854, we will cover all the bases of the remarkable tale we have been presented with.

What’s further, Atlantic City did not have a proper road to the mainland until 1870, yet according to the narrative we have dozens of luxury resort hotels which had already arose in the city prior to this date, seemingly without the use of proper tools or machines.
