In this video tutorial we cover how you can start strapless jumping while kitesurfing! Find more videos on our new website here: https://flukeskitesurfing.com/ The Load and Pop Strapless Kitesurfing Jump is a great jump to learn that will help build a technique that will help with other strapless jump tricks. It helps create a technique that isn't dependent on launch ramps. So you can jump in flat water, and also jump much better when you do have ramps. Once you master the load and pop, work on flying further and progress to the nest tricks such as strapless front rolls, reverses and even board offs. All of which you can use this launch as your base.

Best conditions to learn The Load and Pop Strapless Kitesurfing Jump
Flatwater.
Try in between waves
Try on the small chop.
20 knots wind.
Board not too heavy

How to jump strapless doing the load and pop

Traveling with moderate speed
Kite to 11
Tend downwind slightly
Edge moderately hard (board points more into the wind to help the nose climb)
At the same time, Pop off your back foot
Take your back hand off the bar
Over emphasize your front foot up
Help lift into the air sheeting in slowly
Twist your board by pushing your back foot out.
Bring your back foot in slightly for landing
Sheet in with bar (front hand)
Remember (like with any jump) you will land pointing downwind.
(About 45 degrees.)

Common Strapless Jumping Problems

1. Flying away from the board. Sheeting in too much (kite pulls you away)
Wind speed. (this is much harder on a 12M) (see my foot slipping)
Your speed. fast enough to have wind speed, slow enough that you can control your edge well) experiment
2. Board not lifting up at all:Focus on the pop, the front foot compress. overemphasize your front foot lift and let the wind bring the board up. (less about jumping, more about lifting your front knee)
3. Your jumping but Flying through the air awkwardlyNot taking your backhand off the bar. (closing yourself off to the twist)
4. Falling over the front of the board on landing. Try forcing the board forward just before landing. Keep more compressed during the jump
